Judge's table at Labor and employment Law Defense

Employers in California are expected to abide by numerous statutes regarding payment of wages and allowance of meal and rest breaks, as well as laws regarding the treatment of employees in the workplace. The constantly changing laws make it difficult for employers to be compliant.

A violation of these laws, even if unintentional, can have dramatic financial consequences. A successful wage and hour claim could result in liability for costly penalties and payment of back pay to the employee, and potentially fees to the employee’s attorney. In addition to wage and hour claims, an employee can assert a claim based on wrongful termination, physical or sexual discrimination and/or harassment and retaliation for reporting or complaining about unlawful discrimination or harassment.

Therefore, it is important to aggressively defend against such claims to limit legal liability
